John Fisher Murray was an Irish poet and humourist, perhaps best known for his satirical works. He did however write a number of works regarding London, notably 'The World of London'. This volume describes the area surrounding the river Thames, and includes descriptions of Kensington, Richmond and Hampton Court, to name a few. In the original red cloth binding with gilt motif to front board. Externally smart with slight rubbing to the boards and extremities. Slight splitting to the head and tail of the spine. Shelfwear most evident in corners where cloth worn through. One plate and its tissue are detached, and this plate is chipped and has tear in right margin not affecting picture itself.
