Article copied from an October 1907 issues of the 'American Journal of Surgery,' with odd advisory texts appended to beginning and end of article pressuring the reader to believe their hemorrhoids can be cured 'without the knife.' This text was likely issued by Drs. Burleson and Burleson, given a similar refrain in an accompanying 2 pp. illustrated advertisement. 9 1/2 x 6 1/3 inches. 1 oz. 4 pp and 2 pp. Article is stamped on front wrapper with the number 2599 and the date NOV 28 1911. Fold-lines, creasing, wear, age, and a short tear in middle of spine repaired with Japanese tissue. Advertisement with fold lines, creasing, sticker residue, blue crayon, a dated stamp of DEC 20 1916 and a stamp of the Cramp American Medical Association in Chicago. Verso, an unrelated advertisement, has a blue crayon X written across it. Good. No ISBN. No ASIN. No OCLC. "Two rather eccentric related promotional materials advocating for a non-surgical solution to fistula and piles. An exemplary showcase of the oddity both of the conjunction of profit motivation and public health, as well as the low-information rural society America still was even at the turn of the last century.".
