Il trio per due violini o flauti e basso in sol maggiore fa parte del numero non elevato di composizioni strumentali da camera per organico simile di Nicolò Jo…mmelli (1714-1774). I quattro testimoni attualmente reperibili di questo trio ne indicano la stesura intorno alla metà del Settecento; una copia manoscritta, proveniente dalla biblioteca del violinista e compositore Pierre Baillot, oggi conservata in US-Wc, risulta infatti datata al 1749, mentre l'unico testimone a stampa adespoto, pubblicato da Longman & Co. di Londra e successivo ai tre manoscritti esistenti, è stato datato al 1768. La produzione strumentale di Jommelli ha goduto nel pieno e secondo Settecento di un'ampia diffusione edita e soprattutto manoscritta, a segno del consenso e dell'interesse che la sua produzione 'minore' per quantità, rispetto alla preponderante produzione operistica e sacra, suscitò nel pubblico degli amatori musicisti. Questo trio, nelle sue quattro diverse versioni, talora con divergenze piuttosto marcate, costituisce in piccolo un esempio di diffusione e fortuna della musica da camera strumentale di Jommelli in Europa. Il trio in sol maggiore è un pregevole campione dello stile galante della metà del Settecento: oltre all'articolazione in tre movimenti, si rileva una struttura interna dei primi due movimenti in due sezioni delimitate da segni di ritornello, mentre il tempo conclusivo è in forma di rondò con un solo segno di. Nel musicare per la terza volta la "Didone abbandonata" Jommelli mise mano a un libretto modellato sull'intonazione che Baldassarre Galuppi aveva approntato per la corte di Madrid nel 1752 con la supervisione del Farinelli, e sull'edizione p…arigina Quillau II (1755) che ne accoglieva i rimaneggiamenti, differenziandosi solo per la reintegrazione delle arie di Iarba "Fra lo splendor del trono" e "Son qual fiume che gonfio d'umori". Quest'ultima aria è l'unico brano che accomuna il libretto della "Didone" del 1763 a quello che Jommelli musicò a Vienna nel 1749. Il testo musicale di questa edizione restituisce fedelmente la lezione del manoscritto autografo emendandone gli errori, risolvendone le ambiguità e colmandone le lacune con l'aiuto delle fonti secondarie. La disposizione degli strumenti in partitura segue l'uso moderno. Le parti vocali, solistiche, d'assieme o corali, sono collocate secondo l'uso dell'epoca sopra la linea del basso. Edizione integrale della partitura dell'opera in tre atti. "Il trionfo di Clelia" è l'ultimo dramma per musica di Niccolò Jommelli. Composto su… testo di Pietro Metastasio, il dramma fu rappresentato il 6 giugno 1774 al Teatro da Ajuda di Lisbona, per celebrare il compleanno di José I, re di Portogallo: il dramma passò sotto silenzio e non fu più ripreso. Giuseppe Sigismondo, musico 'dilettante', coadiuvò Jommelli nell'ultimo anno di vita, allorché malato, alla stesura della partitura, che fu poi adattata alle esigenze del teatro portoghese da João Cordeiro da Silva, compositore al servizio della Real Casa. Il testo musicale di questa edizione restituisce fedelmente, quale fonte principale, la lezione della copia della partitura redatta da Giuseppe Sigismondo (I-Nc, 28.4.1), emendandone gli errori, risolvendone le ambiguità e colmandone le lacune con l'aiuto delle fonti secondarie. Al contempo, al termine di ogni atto sono riportate quelle arie e quei recitativi della versione portoghese, rimaneggiata da Cordeiro da Silva (P-La, 44-X-54/56), che più differiscono dalla fonte principale. La disposizione degli strumenti in partitura segue l'uso moderno. Le parti vocali, solistiche, d'assieme o corali, sono collocate secondo l'uso dell'epoca sopra la linea del basso. Libro.
