Med 2 kobberstukne helfigursportrætter af Sigismund og Karl IX samt træskåret vignet på side 137 i bind 2. Samtidige halvbind af brunt kalveskind. Permerne med overfladiske skrammer. Begge stik med en rift langs folden (ca. 5-6 cm). * Den første officielle fremstilling af det blodige og afgørende tidehverv i svensk historie, hvor kong Johan III's katolsk-opdragede søn Sigismund i 1590'erne blev bekriget af sin farbror, den senere Karl IX. Sidstnævnte gik af med sejren, og Sigismund måtte fortrække til Polen. Efterfølgende blev der gjort håndfast op med de svenske højadelige, der havde støttet kong Sigismund, ved det såkaldte Linköpings blodbad. Krigen med Dannemarck er selvfølgelig Kalmarkrigen.

Fine samtidige brune skinnbind. Rik ryggdekor i gull og gule skinn tittelfelt. Marmorert overtrekks papir på permene. Rødfarget snitt. Navn på forsatsblad i begge bind. Svakt brunplettet ellers et meget fint eksemplar. .

Enstaka småfläckar, något större på s. 23 och 173 i första delen, porträttet i andra delen med fuktrand på baksiden och ett litet brännhål i marginalen s. 203-204. Något senare hfrbd, guldornerade ryggar med upphöjda bind och blå titel- och deltiteletiketter från mitten av 1800-talet, liten skada på den ena. Med Oscar Hultboms diskreta blå ägarstämpel. Warmholtz 3437. Den sista pagineringsföljden med eget titelblad i andra delen innehåller bilagor. Jonas Werwing (?1697) var en oblyg kompilator och från 1685 assessor i Antikvitetskollegiet. Han fick på 1690-talet det officiella uppdraget att teckna Sigismunds och Karl IX:s historia, och skrev då helt fräckt av Arnold Johan Messenius opublicerade manuskript om dessa - utan att nämna dennes namn - och kompletterade med uppgifter hämtade ur Johannes Messenius likaledes opublicerade Scondia illustrata. Han lyckades dock aldrig ge ut verket, trots att det hunnit granskas av censor librorum, Claes Örnhielm. Eric Palmskiöld granskade det efterlämnade manuskriptet ånyo 1704 för utgivning och företog enstaka ändringar, men det blev först den flitige Stiernman, som med tillägg och ändringar publicerade verket, vilket rätteligen borde tillskrivas den olycklige Arnold Johan Messenius.
