Poinsignon (1836-1900), dessen Vater Heinrich bereits zeitweilig Archivar… in Konstanz war, brach sein Jurastudium in Heidelberg ab und schlug 1857 eine militärische Laufbahn in Baden ein, die er 1879 als Hauptmann beendete und als Seiteneinsteiger von Karl Roth von Schreckenstein ans Badische Landesarchiv in Karlsruhe geholt wurde. Bereits 1880 wurde Poinsignon Leiter des Stadtarchivs in Freiburg, eine Stellung, die er bis 1891 bekleidete. - Rest (1884-1961) trat nach seinem Studium der Geschichte in Freiburg und Paris und seiner Promotion an der Universität Freiburg im Jahre 1908 bereits ein Jahr darauf als wissenschaftlicher Hilfsarbeiter in die Universitätsbibliothek Freiburg ein, wo er sich hocharbeitete bis zum Direktor der Bibliothek. Die Stellung bekleidete er von 1929 bis zu seiner Pensionierung im Jahre 1953. - I. 1255-1400, bearb. von Ad. Poinsignon (Stadtarchivar); II. 1401-1662, bearb. von Leonard Korth u. Peter P.
