Hard Covers. Condition: VG+. No Jacket. 1st. Text material for this record of Norfolk Island stamp issues was provided by the island Philitalic Socierty. It was not until June 1947 that the island --- notorious as an early convict settlement and later noted for the resettlement from Pitcairn Island of the descendents of the Bouny mutineers --- produced its own stamp issue. Tasmanian, NSW and finally Australian Commonwealth stamps were previously used. Since then stamps issued in the island have attracted collectors world-wide. Subjects covered have been wide ranging, from island scenery, architecture, birds, botanical subjects, wild life, historical associations, ships, transport, aircraft and significant occasions/events/organisations. 88 pages, short history of island and its postal history with each stamp issue then chronologically described and illustrated, with various denominations in full colour. Some issues were of only one stamp while another reached 17 (butterflies) and four were of 16 stamps. Descriptive text for each issue includes a data list coveing issue date, technical info, designer, paper type, printer and printing process. Other illustrations include few photos with colour map at back. Colour laminated covers, stamp selection at front, VG+, internally excellent, no inscriptions. Colour Stamp Reproductions, Map, Photos (illustrator).
