One piece of paper, 5x8 inches, written in ink on recto only by Julius Mohl. Mohl, an Orientalist, was born in Germany and became a naturalized Frenchman. Lived in France with Ampere and took care of Ampere's finances. He married Mary Clarke. Became a professor in College of France. Famous for "Fragments Relative to Zoroaster" (1829) and "Shah Nameh" (1835-55). No date on letter.

She was hostess at one of the most celebrated salon of the era, and counted among her friends Florence Nightingale, George Eliot and Elizabeth Gaskell, who wrote a significant portion of North and South while staying with her. She was a keen advocate of female education and political emancipation.
