Text in German in Fraktur. A work of fiction for children which recounts the voyage of an English convict to the penal colony in New South Wales, as told through the diary of the ship's doctor. Daily life in Sydney is described in great detail, and the narrative includes encounters with Aborigines and hunting game in the bush. An earlier version, also published in Leipzig, appeared in 1832, with the pseudonymous authorship of Peter Cunningham, Surgeon, R. N. Copies are recorded in three Australian collections (National Library of Australia; State Library of New South Wales; University of Sydney Library).
