Nach einem Sportunfall mit 17 Jahren erlebte er die positiven Auswirkungen von Krafttraining auf seinen Heilungsprozess. Fasziniert entwi…ckelte er ein Konzept fur gesundheitsorientiertes Krafttraining. In den sechziger Jahren baute er seine ersten Kraftmaschinen aus Schrottteilen und trainierte in einem Abbruchgebaude. 1967 eroffnete er sein erstes Kraftstudio in Zurich. Uberzeugt von seiner Idee, die sich von gangigen Fitnesskonzepten abgrenzte, baute er sein Unternehmen beharrlich auf. Seine Methoden zielten nicht auf uberzogene Korperideale, sondern auf praventive und therapeutische Kraftigung des Korpers. Besonders Ruckenpatienten profitierten vom Kieser Training und uberzeugten selbst skeptische Orthopaden. In den achtziger Jahren expandierte Kieser in der Schweiz und etablierte sich seit 1990 auf dem europaischen Markt, wo mittlerweile 135 Kieser-Studios in Deutschland existieren. Im Jahr 2007, dem 40. Firmenjubilaum, strebt er mit Trainingszentren in Amerika, Australien, Neuseeland und China auf den Weltmarkt. In seiner autobiografischen Firmengeschichte schildert der 67-Jahrige, wie er mit Ausdauer und einer klaren Idee vom Ein-Mann-Betrieb zu einem der erfolgreichsten Unternehmen Europas wurde.
