She received her formal education at The Dalton School, Yale University, and the California Institute of the Arts. -- Autumn Leaves: Yesterday, a slow suburban walk along residential roads. In my neighborhood, some of the streets are quiet and some of them roll with the rumble of the highways and major streets. Even in California this is autumn, and there are dry leaves. There is no richer experience than simple observation through all senses. The patterns of the leaves, the architecture of their flight in flocks of various sizes and shapes, the rhythm of their scrapes on the pavement. The feel of my feet in running shoes and the asynchronous experience of hearing their dull thump through the din of traffic. The rush of cars one block over, and now here and louder, more intense. The crackle and smell of leaves burning and an inexplicable odor of baked goods. Yard sale. A few dogs. The quality of my attention as it weaves shapes and hits cusps, disappears in places and resurfaces in the phase spaces of my mind. Who needs more than this? When the meditation of ordinary reality provides sustenance and transcendence, what is art for? We each have the capacity to create our own art, our own beauty in our mind. Walking through a current of leaves, I think to myself that even when we set out to invent universes in art, we end up with worlds. That is what humans do. Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 250.
