The edition includes an introduction, appendix, and glossary by noted medical historian John Kirkup. An important work for collectors of medical history, military medicine, surgery, orthopedics, and seventeenth-century scientific literature. Wiseman's observations were drawn from both military and civilian practice during the English Civil War era and helped establish surgery as a more systematic and evidence-based discipline.
