Hardcover. Condition: As New. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 130 pages. Published in 2003. Retrospective collection of color photographs. One of the most brilliant art photography books of our time. The First Hardcover Edition. The first and only edition. Published in a small and limited print run as a hardcover original only. The First Edition is now scarce. A brilliant production by Peter Granser: Regular-sized volume format. Pictorial hard boards with titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Peter Granser. Each image is reproduced on the right-hand side only with the corresponding Caption en face. Essay by Klaus Kleinschmidt in the German original and felicitous English translation. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Germany to the highest standards. The reproduction quality is exemplary in every respect. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Peter Granser's "Sun City, Arizona". Whose Cover Image, in and of itself, is one of the greatest photographic images of our time. "Does an excellent job at capturing the fundamental weirdness and unintentional humor that lurks in a place where lawn bowling is what's happening, the thing to do, and people think nothing of driving their golf carts to the grocery store. Straightforward yet subtle, these are the kind of images that invite you to explore their every corner" (Review blurb). The complete sequence is presented in the book whereas only a few of them were shown at the 2002 World Press Photo Annual, for which Granser won the eponymous award. A photobook is NOT a photograph, but some photographs are better, if not best, seen together with all of the other sequential images, and Granser's relentless, grid-inspired, Becher-like aesthetic is the ideal contrasting form for his surreal, "Made In The USA", "only-in-America" subject. An absolute "must-have" title for Peter Granser collectors. This copy is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully signed and dated in black ink-pen on the half-title page by the photographer: "Peter Granser 05/2008". It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a contemporary art photography classic. As far as we know, this is the only such signed and dated copy of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. A rare signed copy thus. 54 color plates. One of the most brilliant photographers of our time. A fine collectible copy. ISBN 3716513032. Signed by Author.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine condition. First limited edition. Signed Peter Granser on half-title and on letter to Stephen Cohen introducing the book. Small Quarto. Unpaginated. Original photo-illustrated boards in color with black lettering on cover and spine. 2003 signed letter to Stephen Cohen with printed lists including biography, collections with his work, exhibition history and publications on Granser letterhead, and two color-illustrated promotional cards, a color-illustrated invitation to a 14-1 gallery opening, and two Granser business cards in unmarked envelope laid in. "Peter Granser's images seem absurd, ironical and comical at the same time. For the picture series "Sun City" he portrayed wealthy senior citizens in the pensioners' paradise of Sun City, the largest community of senior citizens in the US. Granser received one of the renowned World Press Awards 2002 and the Arles Discovery Award 2002 for "Sun City." (Publisher). Granser, an Austrian living in Germany, has perfectly captured the forgivable oddness of this desert community in this series of color photographs. With an essay by Klaus Kleinschmidt. Text in German and English. Contains biography at rear. Minor wear along edges.
