A copper engraving on laid paper, not coloured. Sheet size is 36cm. x 25cm. Titled at bottom. Wrinkle in upper margin, a nice clean copy. This is a smaller version of a print by Johannes Kip after Leonard Knyff, earlier published in the Britannia Illustrata [1708]. This is the variety without the plate number at upper right, and without the legend "Toms f c." at lower right. Possibly from Maitlands Survey of London (1755).

Published in Leiden by Pieter Van der Aa circa 1727 Published by Pieter Van Der Aa, Lieden 1727 From "Les Delices de la Grande Bretagne & de L'Irelande" by James Beeverell This is a collection of approximately 120 miniature engravings, approximately half being of stately homes from an aerial view, many other scenes are included, such as cathedrals, distant views of towns & scenery in England, Scotland & a small number of Ireland, including a single map of Ireland. originally from Britannia Illustrata (published in 1720s) by the Dutch draughtsman Jan Kip (born Amsterdam 1652), who collaborated with Leonard Knijff / Knyff. These smaller copies are from a pirated edition published by Pieter Van Der Aa, Lieden circa 1727, The plates are not in order, but labelled in a uniform style from low numbers like Pag.358c (Chattsworth) to high numbers like Pag.1587 (an aerial view of an island in Donegal). Bound in old drab boards measuring 8 inches by 6.5 inches approx., joints are cracked but boards are holding, internally old ownership name to front endpaper, endpapers foxed and creased, some foxing and small stains to plate borders, many plates have a fold line in them but are bound in the book flat. A nice bound collection of 120 plates with no text or title page bound in.
