Persönlich mit Karl May bekannt, der sich 1907 auch lobend über Krapps Lyrik äußerte, veröffentlichte Lorenz Krapp einige Arbeiten über Karl May und trat als Lyriker hervor. Seine berufliche Laufbahn führte vom Auswärtigen Dienst zum deutsch-italienischen Schiedsgericht in Rom und zum Deutschen Konsular-Obergericht in Kairo. 1931 übernahm Krapp den Vorsitz des Landesgerichts Bamberg, trat 1933 zurück und schlug 1945 erneut die richterliche Laufbahn ein.
