Tapa Dura. Condition: New. 1ª Edición. Krass Clement's 'Across the Cut' emerged from a brief visit he made to Bristol in June 2016. He had been invited to speak at Photobook Bristol and also to discuss a potential future publishing project. He hadn't planned this book, but it developed during his stay. Unlike much of his other work, he began editing and sequencing his images as soon as he returned to Denmark. His time in Bristol coincided with the lead-up to the UK referendum on its future membership in the European Union. The idea that Britain might leave the EU deeply troubled Krass Clement and undoubtedly influenced his mood and perception while taking the photographs. The ambiguities of being left behind, loneliness, feelings of limbo and powerlessness are present in all of Krass Clement's books and are not specific to any one place, but few portray these themes as powerfully as his images of Bristol's Cut. The Cut is an artificial canal built in the early 19th century to help create a floating harbor. It is about 3 kilometers long and divides Bristol, with the traditionally more prosperous part located on the north side. Most of Krass Clement's photographs were taken on the south side. Libro, Book, Buch. Livre.

4°, 125 Bl., OLwd., Tadell. 1600 gr. Schlagworte: Photographie.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Krass Clement's Drum, photographed in an Irish pub on a single evening with only three and a half rolls of film, is now considered one of the most important contributions to the contemporary Danish photobook. Revolving around one principal character - a hunched, weather beaten old man who sits alone with his drink, Drum comments on community, the outsider, alienation and the terrors of being alone.

"For over twenty years, Krass Clement`s book Drum, photographed in a single evening, has long been regarded as one of the most iconic photobooks ever made. RRB are pleased to be able to now publish Dublin. The images in Dublin retain some of the style of Drum, an almost autobiographical account of the three journeys that Clement made into and out of Dublin while staying in Monaghan in March 1991. `So great to see this work finally get published. At a time when most international photographers were focused on the troubles in Northern Ireland, it`s exciting to know that one of my favourite photographers was shooting here in Dublin on my own doorstep. Fantastic work, as you`d expect from Krass, made even more poignant with the passing of nearly 3 decades." (Eamonn Doyle) The Dublin photobook is the rst of Clement`s work to be published by RRB Publishing, and the rst time any of his work has been published with an accompanying special edition print. The book will also coincide with an exhibition of the work at the Gallery of Photography, Ireland." (from the publisher)***************RRB Publishing, Bristol. 2020. Erstausgabe. Originalausgabe. Von Krass Clement signiert ("Paris 14 XI 2025"). - "Born in Copenhagen in 1946, Krass Clement is an autodidact photographer. Graduated as a film director from the Danish Film School in 1973, though continued with photography when it became evident that his future was not to be in film. A photographer since his early youth, Krass published his first book, Skygger af Øjeblikke (Shadows of Moments) in 1978. His photographic work emerges from two traditions: The Scandinavian melancholy on the one hand and the 'flaneur' tradition from the Parisian school on the other. Starting out in black and white, Krass has persisted in developing and modernizing his artistic expression so that his production today also includes work in colour. . In his photography Krass is more concerned with capturing a state of mind than with situations. They are less documentary depictions than subjective moods somewhere between spectator and reality. Insisting on an artistic integrity, Krass Clement has created a strong personal body of work with the photo book as his favourite medium" (krassclementdotcom). - Einband etwas gebräunt, sehr gutes Exemplar. København, Gyldendal, 2010. 4to. In the original printed full cloth binding. A very nice and clean copy. 208 pp First edition of Clement?s work dedicated to Paris. Clement?s childhood was spent between boarding schools and periods abroad with his parents. During the 1950s he spent significant time in Paris, an experience that left a lasting mark on the young photographer. Captivated by the city?s contrasts of wealth and poverty in the post-war years, Clement has repeatedly returned to Paris throughout his career, seeking to preserve and reinterpret the impressions the city imprinted on his childhood self. The renowned Danish photographer Krass Clement (born in Copehagen 1946) counts as one of the most esteemed Danish photographers, and his "Byen bag Regnen" as one of the most popular Danish photography-books ever printed. Clement's interest in photography developed already in his childhood, and he began photographing as early as the late 50'ies. He was educated as a film-director but soon turned professionally to still photography. His first book, Skygger af øjeblikke (Shadows of the Moment), appeared in 1978, followed by Det tavse land (The Silent Land) from 1981 and Gentagelsens fest (The Party of Repetition) from 1984, before his great work on Copenhagen, "The City Behind the Rain", appeared in 1887, presenting his magnificent melancholic, but also humorous and inspiring photographs from the 1960'ies and 80'ies of different aspects of Copenhagen and Copenhageners. His work, often presented in book-form, his favourite medium, is considered highly inspiring and poetical, in spite of their melancholic character, which makes them oddly compelling. His social-realist portrayal of Copenhagen in the 60'ies and 80'ies is very different from other contemporary works, and his critical but still sympathetic approach, with a sharp eye for the humorous, makes it both lively and of great artistic value. Clement is the first artist photographer to receive a lifelong disbursement from The State Art Foundation, and his works are displayed at both MOMA and the National Library in Paris.

Gebunden, illustrierter Hartkartoneinband mit Leinenrücken. Ca. 135 nn Seiten mit durchgehend S/W- und Farbfotoabbildungen. Format 23,5 x 28 cm.

[Copenhagen, 1987]. Queer 4to. Original dark grey wrappers. Very slight sunning to spine and a tiny nick to upper part of front wrapper. An 1988-inscription to front free end-paper. A very small oval stamp and two small spots to title-page, otherwise internally near mint. 53, (4, -index) pp., containing 128 full-page b/w photographs. The uncommon first edition of Krass Clement's fourth book, being one of the most sought-after of his works.
