A specialized text, superbly illustrated, oriented to the problems presented by industry on the worker and their eyes. Eye protection, eye protection (goggles), illuminatio…n, standards, radiation, chemical eye injuries, blindness, etc. / Kuhn, Hedwig Stieglitz (1895-1973) American woman ophthalmologist, born in Chicago, who graduated from Rush Medical School in 1919, and specialized with her husband, Hugh, in industrial ophthalmology. Kuhn was one of the pioneers and early advocates of more effective industrial safety programs. She led a drive to form the Hammond Safety Council and wrote a monthly newsletter concerning public and recreational safety and worked to combat accidents involving automobiles, airplanes, and boats. In 1957, she was named to President Eisenhower's Traffic Safety Commission and served on a presidential subcommittee concerned with employing the physically handicapped. In 1970, Dr. Kuhn received the highest award of the National Safety Council, the Distinguished Service to Safety Award. Kuhn was a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American and International Colleges of Surgeons, a member of the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness, the American Medical Association, and various state and local medical societies.
