Heinrich Kurtzig - maternal grandfather of the literary scholar Stéphane Mosès - took over the management of a factory in Inowroclaw after completing his commercial training , which has been called Hohensalza since 1904. In 1905 he moved to Berlin, where he founded a publishing bookstore in 1907. Under the pseudonym Bogumil Curtius, he belonged to the Breslau poet school.
