Vickers' first novel under the Kyle pseudonym, introducing Inspector Rason. Second impression. Red boards with black imprint lightly bumped and rubbed with a bit of fraying to the corners and spine ends. Four inch tear down the upper rear spine fold and a half inch nick to the spine. Front hinge cracked, foxing to the end papers and edges of the text block.

The work tells the story of a happy family torn apart by a murder. The novel is credited for its realistic depictions of grief and trauma.
