Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 2nd Edition. In French. Deuxieme Edition. The first edition was published a year earlier. You can see the covers in the photos, not bad for 1845 there is a little scuffing on the spine, some of it around the lettering, but it wasn't much affected. There is a little bit of loss of leather at both sides of the spine ends, not terrible. There is a closed horizontal tear at the middle of the spine, and another down a little bit from it. The edges and corners are in pretty decent shape, a little rubbing around the corners. The book is square and the spine is straight the binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages and nicely tight covers as well. There is a very thin space between the front and side cover and front end paper. You can only see it by looking from the side and it doesn't impact the binding of the front cover which doesn't have any give when you pull at it from the side. The rear cover doesn't seem to have that thin space but does have a thin opening just off its top and bottom edges, probably about half an inch each. The rear cover has no give when you pull at it from the side. It is very tightly bound. The inside covers and end papers are a marbled pattern. There in pretty decent shape, a little toning at the margins. The condition of the pages is, I would say, well above average compared to its peers. There is only the slightest bit of foxing. It looks more like a toning color. There isn't much by way of creasing, a handful or so of consecutive pages have a top corner crease. There are no stamps or attachments, NOT ex-library. However, there is some small penciling in the margins of a dozen or more early pages and then another dozen or more later pages, also a handful or so of penciled underlines. There is a thin blue ribbon that appears to be in pretty good shape. That's about it.

Gold lettering and bars on the spine. Each volume measures about 8 x 11 inches. Title pages dated 1846. The first two volumes are the Old (Ancien) Testament. The third volume is the New (Nouveau) Testament. Text is all in French, printed in double columns. Illustrated with nice engravings throughout. 567, 696 and 349 pages. Some inoffensive foxing to the pages. This is a nice looking set in original 19th century binding. Fore-edges are speckled. Tipped-in previous owner stickers on front glued end paper. Boards are very worn and scuffed. Some corners of boards are badly rubbed and curling. Some are creased. Some of the red leather spines are fading and scuffed as well. Boards are firmly attached, but some hinges are tender. Top corner of Vol 1's front board is missing. Moderate foxing throughout. Overall, set is in good condition. pp.
