Seule édition de cet ouvrage de pathologie spéciale, exposant les lésions des différents organes et appareils. Il est basé à la fois sur l'expérience de l'auteur (qui rapporte en particulier des observations anatomo-cliniques personnelles et qui signale "les points nouveaux, les sujets négligés") et sur une revue de la littérature. Cet ouvrage est bien documenté, avec des notes bibliographiques en bas de page. Il est abondamment illustré. Alexandre Laboulbène (1825-1898), élève de Cruveilhier et de Charles Robin, fut médecin des hôpitaux et professeur à la Faculté de médecine de Paris. Il fut le suppléant de Cruveilhier dans la chaire d'anatomie pathologique. Il devint membre de l'Académie de médecine (section d'anatomie pathologique). Il fut le premier à décrire, avec Robin, le cylindrome, en 1853. Il s'illustra également en entomologie. REFERENCE: J.
