48x33 cm. 33 illustrated and numbered folios; with 3 front and 3 back flyleaves. Entirely bound in stiff parchment, with handwritten title on spine, preserving the paperback covers. Magnificent (unique) manuscript and calligraphed copy with decorated colour capitals and colour capitals scattered throughout the text; erotic drawings (in gouache) in texto and hors text by the French artist of Hungarian origin Ladislas Laszlo Barta (1902-1961). "La Chière Nuictée d'amour" is a short story by Honoré de Balzac. It is part of the collection "Les Cent Contes Drolatiques" published in Paris by C. Gosselin (and Edmond Werdet) from 1832 to 1837. The central character is Scipio Sardini, Count of Chaumont, 1526-1609, banker to Henry III and Catherine de Medici, whose father was a gonfaloniere (high office of the Italian magistracy) of the fief of Lucca in Tuscany. Scipio Sardini, is the victim of his love for the wife of the Parisian lawyer Pierre des Avenelles in the affair that takes place in the context of the preparations for the Amboise conspiracy (1560). Pierre des Avenelles, a Parisian lawyer, was a friend of Jean du Barry, a Protestant but loyalist, who became famous for denouncing Protestant conspirators against the royal family and thus triggered the Amboise conspiracy. Laszlo Barta (1902-1961) was a Hungarian-Jewish artist who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. In his youth in Hungary, he painted still-lifes, views of the Lake Balaton, and figurative compositions. Laszlo Barta arrived in Paris in the 1920s, joining in Montmarte and Montparnasse the Fauve painters (not followers of the impressionist movement prevailing at the time) such as Matisse, Dufy, Gleizes, among others with whom he will make friends, evolving from a Fauve Expressionist style through Cubism and joining Abstraction at the end of his life. He illustrated a good number of luxury books. After having married a Toulonnaise, they will settle in Saint Tropez and their house will become an important artistic meeting place. The New York gallery of Julien Levy permanently exhibited the works of this artist alongside Braque, Picasso, etc . Language: Francês / French Location/localizacao: Norberto01.
