    First edition. 8 pages of ads, titles, Preface etc, then 376 pages + 24 illustrated plates. The book is quite firmly bound in the publisher's purplish brown cloth, lettered and decorated in gilt and blind, the cloth is slightly marked, bumped and rubbed, the spine ends are softened, with some loss at the top of the spine and small tears to the bottom. The text block is foxed, slightly marked and age toned, with cracking at points, there is a neatly written ink ownership inscription to the front endpaper, a small bookseller's label to the front pastedown, and an equally diminutive bookbinder's label to the rear pastedown.
