?First edition. Oblong 8vo. pp. 12; 8 photo. illusts., a few diags.; very good in original printed wrappers. Lankester (1862-1947) worked with the Church Missionary Society, at one point serving as secretary of the Auxiliary Committee on Medical Missions. This pamphlet makes a plea for the work of the medical missionary, outlining the sort of work that doctors undertake, with a few tables of information, and illustrations of mission hospitals in India, Persia, Palestine, and China.

Soft cover. Condition: Good. Paper covers, illustrations, maps, portraits (some in colour). No 1 - 22 (no.22 and 23 being missing). No. 1 and 9 have covers that are detached o/w the issues are in fairly good condition. Previous owner's name written on some of them.
