In quite good quarter black cloth and light brown cloth with central black field with seated woman and child to front. The boards have collapsed hollow and are a little loose; shelf-cocked; slightly marked; corners and spine ends bumped and frayed. Lightly foxed free end papers; name, address and date in ink on front free end paper. Very tanned cut edges; the fore and top edges are deckled. The text block is quite firm and straight, with small marks throughout. Good condition. Title-page in red and black with John Leech image called 'The Mother of the Gracchi. In the text, steel engravings, in colour and b/w; and other smaller b/w illustrations by John Leech. All the illustrations have titles and listed in Contents pages. Without jacket.
