First edition. A beautiful illustrated work for children. There is only one reference in WorldCat to a coloured copy. The rest contain black and white lithographs. Red cloth cover with black and gilt decoration and gilt titles to the front board and the spine. All edges gilt. The binding is somewhat darkened, and a little bumped Inside, the pages are generally fairly clean but with a few marks to the edges. The books has a frontispiece and 23 further full page colour lithographed plates by Leloir, engraved by Lemercier & Cie. (So a total of 24 plates). Complete. Each of the plates has a paper guard. These are quite chipped, and have some closed tears to them. The plates themselves are in very good condition. 52 pages. 24cm x 32cm. Conforms to WorldCat / OCLC: 14698504. Only two library holdings. (Both in the USA). We cannot find any other coloured copies of this book available at the time of cataloguing. Text is in French. ,
