Gallitzin's work was not without its challenges. He faced opposition from both Protestants and anti-Catholic nativists. He also struggled with loneliness and the harsh conditions of frontier life. But through it all, he remained steadfast in his faith and his commitment to his people. Over time, Gallitzin's reputation as a holy man and a tireless worker spread throughout the region. He became known as the "Apostle of the Alleghenies" and was revered by both Catholics and non-Catholics alike. Gallitzin's story is a testament to the power of faith and the importance of following one's dreams.
