Condition: Fair. 1926. First Edition. 260 pages. No dust jacket. This is an ex-Library book. Red cloth with a black and white illustrated frontis and illustrated plates throughout. Expected library inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Moderate tanning to pages with heavier tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Pen inscriptions to front endpaper and slight dog-eared pages throughout. Heavy tanning to text block edges and both hinges are cracked with exposed netting. There is cracks to guttering with exposed netting. Boards have visible rubbing and heavier bumping to corners. Fair crushing to spine ends and moderate rubbing and sunning to spine.

His grandfather went to London from Croydon in 1819, at the age of sixteen, and entered the office of an attorney called William Tucker. In 1822 the business passed to Tucker's partner, William Collins Webb, who died or retired in 1829, when his grandfather was admitted and took over the practice. His name appeared on the Law List for the first time in 1830. The author entered the firm in 1900. A fascinating booklet on the family firm which was based on the ground floor of their home at No. 8 Bartletts Buildings, Holborn.
