In order to solve these real problems, several research groups around the world have become involved in the study and identification of novel potential targets in the trypanosomatid cell. Since proteins are key macromolecules involved in crucial metabolic processes of all living cells, studies have focused on the expression of specific proteins produced by Leishmania and Trypanosoma by means of different biochemical, molecular and proteomic approaches in order to explore them as targets for understanding the parasite life cycle and developing new strategies against trypanosomiasis. With these proposals in mind, the book ¿Proteins and Proteomics of Leishmania and Trypanosomä encompasses (i) an integrated view about the biochemistry of parasites belonging to the Leishmania and Trypanosoma genera; (ii) an updated review on the expression of biologically relevant proteins by human pathogenic trypanosomatids and their possible role in the interaction with host cells/molecules as well as a target for development of both alternative chemotherapies and vaccine; and (iii) several pictures, diagrams and tables that can be used to illustrate both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well as scientific lectures, being a useful resource for students andresearchers.

A touch of rubbing to head and tail of spine, no previous owner inscriptions. A very good copy. Laid in is a large photograph of an elderly Lowry in conversation with the artist Mervyn Levy. Mervyn Levy (19141996) was a Welsh artist, art teacher and writer on art. Born in Swansea, where he became a friend of the painter Alfred Janes, the poet Dylan Thomas and the musician Daniel Jones, he spent most of his teaching career in Bristol and London, and made several popular television series about painting techniques. A friend of Lowry's, Solomon worked as a sculptor, a painter, and the principal of Rochdale College of art. He also created a bust of Lowry in bronze, which was displayed at the Royal Academy in 1967. Levy was another gre…at friend of Lowry's, as well as an art critic and a teacher. A year after this book was published, he produced another work, The Drawings of L.S. Lowry: Public and Private, which further explored the artist's oeuvre. Lowry is well known for painting the urban industrial districts of north-west England, often peopled with stylized figures known as "the matchstick men". This book features many such scenes, as well as characteristically sombre portraits, still-lifes, and rural scenes. It is rare for any book to be signed by not one, not two, but three people who were instrumental in it's creation. Quarto. Black and white and colour illustrations throughout. Original blue boards, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket. A few negligible bumps; jacket unclipped, spine slightly faded, edges a little creased: a near-fine copy in a very good jacket.
