Die vorliegende Sektion "Feuille No. XVII" der monumentalen Karte zur Illustration von Napoleons Feldzug zeigt die Gebiete von Savigliano Fossano, Cherasco, Alba im NW bis Bobbio, Marsaglia, Borgo S.… Giovani im NO, sowie von S. Remo, Oneglia, Loano im SW bis Genua, Nervi, Brugnato im SO. "Die nur kurze napoleon. Periode war jedoch in kartograph. Hinsicht von entscheidender Bedeutung. Schon 1797 wurde ein Topograph. Büro mit einem Corps von Ingenieurtopographen eingerichtet und von L. A. G. Bacler d Albe mit der Erstellung einer Karte des gesamten Kriegsgebietes beauftragt: Dessen zunächst auf die nördl. Hälfte Italiens beschränkte Carte Générale .` blieb bis in die 1830er Jahre die bedeutendste, wenn auch je nach Quellenlage ungleichwertige Karte von Oberitalien" (Kretschmer-D.-W.). Bacler d Albe (1761-1824) was captain of artillery and served with the Army of Italy. With Bonaparte s arrival, he was employed as a topographical officer and draughtsman. He was made chef de bataillon and head of the Topographical Bureau of the army. On 23 September 1804, he became head of the Emperor s topographical office. The Bacler d Albe map was mostly executed in the late 1790s but was lost to the Austrians until the Peace of Luneville in Feb. 1801. In 1802 it was the best map available to Napoleons covering all of Italy.- Mittelfalz, unten wasserrandig.72645.

Feder in Schwarz, auf leicht bräunlichem festem Japan, unten bezeichnet und datiert, signiert, mit Widmung und betitelt Jena 1934", O Hofmann-Jena", mit bestem Gruß für Herrn Kraus". 65 x 48,5 cm. Studium am Bauhaus in Dessau 1928-1930, wo er P. Klee und W. Kandinsky kennenlernte. 1930 richtete das… Bauhaus für seine Werke eine eigene Ausstellung ein und ebenfalls 1930 wurde er vom Jenaer Kunstverein für die Ausstellung Junge Künstler am Bauhaus Dessau eingeladen. Mit der nationalistischen Machtübernahme wurde sein Werk als entartet verboten und er floh als Mitglied der KPD in die Schweiz und nach Paris. 1934 arbeitete er bei P. Klee in Bern. Aus familiären Gründen ging er 1939 nach Deutschland zurück, wurde eingezogen und war 1940-1946 als Kriegsgefangener in der Sowjetunion. Danach nahm er seine künstlerische Tätigkeit wieder auf und lebte in Rudolstadt/Thür., Paris und Berlin, seit 1976 in Pompeiana.
