4to. 11.75 x 8.25 inches. 268 pp. In pictorial card wrapper, designed by Barbara Lilburn. A very good copy. Illustrated by black and white photographs, map, facsimiles and genealogical tables. Decorated by vignette on content page and device on verso of title. A limited edition privately published history of the Lilburn family by Nigel Lilburn (b.1947). It has an account of John Lilburne, 'Freeborn John' (1615-57), radical pamphleteer of the Civil War and Commonwealth periods. Otherwise the book describes later Lilburns, David Charles (1872-1954), Charles Ralph (1918-2006), Geoffrey David (b.1944) and Nigel himself. There is a connection to the Folkestone and Hythe area of Kent, where some of the Lilburns recently lived. Families linked by intermarriage include The Wrides, The Clarks, The Jeeves and Heathcotes. A number of letters, written 1843-78 are transcribed at the end. A very scarce title. KENT FOLKESTONE KENT - EAST KENT GENEALOGY HISTORY ILLUSTRATED KENT.
