Hardback. Condition: Very Good. Possible First Edition. No stated date but a prize label is dated 1940. Early or possible first edition from 1937. [vi], 90pp. and a black and white frontispiece. Little information is available about the author, but we believe Anton Lind may be a pseudonym of Ernest Alfred Gardner (born 1906). He was in the RAF during the Second World War and wrote several books about the French Foreign Legion as well as books for boys. The present story is one of a series set at Orreyford School and features "Rags" (Edward Raggett) whose exploits lead to fun and trouble. The book is bound in the original illustrated paper covered boards. It is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling to the boards and wear with a little damage to the paper covering the corner tips. The spine ends are bumped and there is a little damage to the bottom of the spine and a thin split on the bottom 1" of the front spine edge. The tear and split have been repaired by a previous owner with a strip of clear tape. The contents are tight and clean apart from a few scattered light marks from finger smudges. The edges of the text block, half-title page and last page of the book are foxed and there is some scattered light foxing elsewhere within the book. There is a school prize label dated 1940 on the front free endpaper.…
