Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Mounting is slightly smudged. ; Original sepia toned photograph of Scottish novelist William Black. Measures approx. 3 1/2" wide by 4 1/2" (oval). A head-and-shoulders image of the author's right profile. Mounted to a larger stiff sheet with a decorative border. The lower portion of the mounting sheet has the printed identification both of Black and the photographers Lock and Whitfield, as well as "Woodbury Process". Excised from a copy of Men of Mark: A Gallery of Contemporary Portraits of Men Distinguished in the Senate, the Church, in Science, Literature and Art, . Second Series, Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington, London, 1877. ; 1 pages.
