The Mohawk nation were a small but indispensable part of the defence of British America against the incursions of French settlers in the 17th and 18th centuries and were also very receptive to the ministry of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel. Lydekker chronicles their place in history. There is a foreword by Lord Tweedsmuir (John Buchan). 206 pages. Bound in terracotta cloth with gold lettering. There are 15 illustrations and also a fold-out map at the rear. The spine has faded and the corners are very slightly faded. Internally the book is in very good condition but for some tape marks on the endpapers. There is a City of Oxford High School for Boys prize label on the front paste-down and the front cover bears the seal of the school in gold. Scarce.
