See his entry in the Oxford DNB. 1p, 12mo. In good condition, lightly aged, with slight discoloration at one edge and minor repair on reverse. Addressed to 'Dear Mrs. Bicknell' and signed 'Danl. Maclise'. Reads 'I very much regret to say that I have accepted an invitation to dinner on Wednesday when I might have had the pleasure of repairing to Tulse Hill and perhaps in company with my friend and your father whom I sometimes dare to call David'.

Leather-bound. Condition: Very Good. Daniel Maclise (illustrator). 4to. (10.5 in. x 7.75 in.) Olive-green morocco with elaborate gilt borders and floriated frames to front and rear boards. Five raised bands (six compartments) with contrasting gilt-embossed title on spine label, to second compartment. All edges gilt and inner dentelles and gilt roll turn-ins. Rubbing to extremities, minor scuffs and superficial gouges to leather. Lovely illustrations by London-based painter Daniel Maclise. Some light spotting to a number of pages (less than 1/5), but does not at all obscure. Blue silk marker, sewn in.
