VG+ original full leather, intricate carved & gilt design to front & rear boards, gilt titles to spine, all edges gilt, moderate shelf wear, former owner's name on presentation page, a little light foxing within, else internally near fine, list of former owner…'s relatives with birth-dates on rear end-papers, illustrated with numerous monochrome plates, and a large fold-out illustration of Christ blessing the children. Compiled by Osmond Tiffany from Fleetwood's "Life of Christ", Cave's "Lives of the Apostles", and other eminent writers, to which is added an account of the explorations & discoveries in Jerusalem and the Holy Land by Rev. J.W. Harding, and an index arranged by Rev. William Manche. Scarce.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Original full brown leather with elaborate carved geometric design on front and back with bright, as new gilt on both front, back and spine. All edges bright gilt as well. Brown endpapers. Large book is tight, square, relatively sharp-cornered with only minor scuffing to the corners…and edges. No markings or flaws inside or out, no names or writings - a fantastic copy of a scarce and beautiful book. Illustrated with numerous beautiful steel engravings, including a frontispiece, all with tissue guards. Also includes the rare fold-out steel cut engraving of Christ blessing the children.
