Each species account includes: description, list of subspecies, forms and aberrations, habitats, flight periods, hostplants, distribution in Europe and France. Richly illustrated with colour photographs of the adults of all species in nature, and as set specimens and the larval stages, as well as distribution maps. Four tables detail the preferred habitats for each species, the hostplants of the caterpillars, the altiduninal distribution and the flight periods. Volume 4 (Heliconiinae, Riodinidae) of Lépidoptères de Guyane is a continuation, but also an evolution in the conception of this series. The success of our first issue (2003) led us to reprint it in two thematic volumes in 2007, with some corrections and additions (including the species checklist). The third volume (2008) (Rhopalocera), followed the same purpose. From this volume 4, we start the publication of a series of ca. 60 pp. volumes, this one dealing with the variations of Heliconius erato morphs, a catalogue of the genus Eueides (Heliconiinae, 7 spp.) and a monograph on the Theopina sub-tribe (Riodinidae, 52 sp.). Le tome 4 (Heliconiinae, Riodinidae) des Lépidoptères de Guyane marque une continuité, mais aussi une évolution dans la conception de cette série. Le succès de notre premier ouvrage (2003) nous a amenés à le rééditer en deux tomes en 2007, avec des corrections et des ajouts divers et l'actualisation de la liste des espèces, en essayant de donner à chaque tome un caractère plus thématique. Le troisième tome (2008), entièrement consacré aux Rhopalocères, poursuivait le même objectif. À partir de ce quatrième tome, nous avons opté pour la publication d'ouvrages brochés plus minces, plus thématiques, plus légers et constituant progressivement une série d'ouvrages de prix modéré, qui pourront faire l'objet de mises à jour plus fréquentes et, au besoin, d'éditions nouvelles. Cette souplesse nous permettra aussi d'être plus réactifs lorsqu'un nouveau sujet méritera une publication rapide. Les sujets traités dans ce tome 4 sont la variabilité des morphes de Heliconius erato, le catalogue des Eueides (Heliconiinae, 7 espèces) et une monographie exhaustive sur les Theopina (Riodinidae, 52 espèces). D'autres tomes seront publiés dans les prochains mois, le 5, prévu pour la fin 2011, sera consacré aux Lycaenidae et le 6 concernera les Hétérocères (Saturniidae, Noctuidae, Castniidae).
