Whittingehame is a parish and village in East Lothian, situated about halfway between Haddington and Dunbar, and near East Linton. The area is on the slopes of the Lammermuir Hills. This history of the Parish, from earliest times, also contains chapters on the notable families of Whittingehame and place-names in the Parish. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine and blind-stamped titling on the front board. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. There is foxing on the fore edge of the text block and many of the pages remain unseparated along the top and/or fore edge. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with some soiling and the spine is browned. There is a tear of about 1/2" on the top of the rear spine edge and a tear of about 3/4" with an adjoining crease on the top rear edge. These tears have been repaired on the reverse with document repair tape. The top front edge has an unrepaired tear of about 1/4" and a scrape to the front of the wrapper has caused two small holes.
