The contents has 32 chapters in three parts, a color frontispiece, a map, b/w photos, glossary, and index. The top and bottom edges of the spine strip are faded and a little frayed. The front board is a faded along the top edge and has two 1/4 in. lines of stain. The front endpaper has an owner's name. Three pages are darkened in an uneven manner, apparently by something that was laid in. DJ: Price clipped. The front panel's top margin is missing; crease lines are on its bottom margin. The back panel has a 4 3/4 in. closed tear, a 1 1/2 in. chip, and a ragged top edge. Scans e-mailed upon request.

Davis, "Tate's Band" by Henry P. Davis, and "E-String" by C.T. Davis - Charles T. Davis. Includes a Foreword by renowned Tennessee outdoor writer and columnist Nash Buckingham. Dardanelle, Arkansas native Marcellus L. Davis served as American consul general to the British West Indies during President Grover Cleveland's administration and was also judge of the Arkansas fifth judicial circuit. The book's other two contributors were the judge's sons - Henry Davis was a newspaper and magazine columnist/editor as well as secretary of the American Wildlife Institute and Charles Davis was Arkansas poet laureate from 1923 to 1945. The dust jacket that has some minor chipping is protected in a mylar cover. Off-white cloth boards; gilt stamped dog vignette at front board center and spine's gilt stamping all remain fairly bright. Light purple top edge; Binding is tight and firm. Beautiful illustrations by Fred F. McCaleb.There is a 1968 letter from Henry Davis, the Sporting Dogs editor of Sports Afield in the front of the book.
