Unpaginated. Two calendar dates to a page with quotations opposite, both with red borders and fleur-de-lis decoration to corners. Finely bound in contemporary red half-morocco, vellum boards, stamped and lettered in gilt, T.E.G. Lightly rubbed and discoloured, corner's bumped. Marbled endpaper, near contemporary inked ownership inscription to front blank fly-leaf, partially completed, two charmingly naive watercolour illustrations pasted in. An attractively bound Edwardian birthday album, each date accompanied by one or more quotations from the work of notable authors, inter alia, Victor Hugo, Dryden , Shelley, Longfellow, and Shakespeare. Size: Quarto.

Suede. Condition: Near Fine. Suede autograph birthday album with yapp edges; gilt lettering and blind ruling to spine, lettering and fleur de lis to cover; all edges gilt. Two dates per double page spread, with 8-10 quotations from popular writers on one page and the opposite page left blank on which one would write in the names and birthdays of friends and family, who could then contribute their signature, a message or short verse. This copy has no entries. Yapp edges bumped, with a little rubbing to patches of the suede. Light foxing internally, though generally clean. Decorated title page with red and black lettering. Page marker. Previous Chester bookseller's embossed stamp to prelims. 28cms tall. Large 8vo.
