Der Erste Weltkrieg scheint den Redner sehr bewegt zu haben, so dass er sich in zahlreichen Predigten und Referaten für die damit zusammenhängenden Fragen engagierte. Jedenfalls wurden in den Kriegsjahren zahlreiche solcher Ansprachen publiziert (vgl. dazu v.a. swissbib). Damit war ein eigentlicher Predigtzyklus entstanden, der sein Ende im Prinzip 1918 fand: ?Für den Frieden auf dem Boden des internationalen Vertrauens? (Luzern 1918, 55 SS.). Nach Kriegsende wandte er sich wieder vermehrt sozialpolitischen und seelsorgerischen Themen zu (?Democratia christiana : christliche Demokratie.
