This copy is from the library of its translator and editor Michael Glenny, in a binding specially made for him. The first issue of Novy Mir was published in Moscow in January 1925, and continues to be released monthly. It published autho…rs including Boris Pasternak, Anna Akhmatova, and Mikhail Bulgakov, and was the first to publish Alexander Solzhenitsyn's One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, all of whom are included in this anthology. Octavo. Contemporary red quarter morocco, spine lettered in gilt, "M. G." initials in gilt on front cover, red sides and endpapers with hammer and sickle design, top edge gilt. A few marks to boards, corners rubbed. A very good copy.
