November 1993) war ein deutscher Kunsttheoret…iker und Chefredakteur der Kunstzeitschrift Wolkenkratzer; ein Promoter und Kritiker der deutschen gestischen Malerei der 1980er Jahre. Faust promovierte an der Technischen Universität Berlin. Eine langjährige Lebensgemeinschaft und Freundschaft teilte er mit Eckehard Kunz, dem Pfarrer der Berliner Martin-Luther Gemeinde. [1] Faust nahm sich 1993 an den Folgen von Aids leidend das Leben. Sein Nachlass befindet sich im Archiv der Akademie der Künste in Berlin, sein ungewöhnlicher Grabstein auf dem III. Städtischen Friedhof Stubenrauchstraße.Middendorf gehört mit Malern wie Jirí Georg Dokoupil, Rainer Fetting, Salomé und Elvira Bach zu den Neuen Wilden. Namensgebend hierbei war die Ausstellung Les Nouveaux Fauves Die Neuen Wilden, die Neue Galerie Sammlung Ludwig 1980 in Aachen zeigte. Einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit bekannt werden Middendorf, Fetting, Salomé und Zimmer mit der Gruppenausstellung Heftige Malerei, die Anfang 1980 im Berliner Haus am Waldsee stattfand.
