Fleck auf Deckel. - Millenet, der diese Schrift im Alter von 28 Jahren schrieb, wendete sich immer wieder gegen ,nach seiner Meinung, schlechte Proportionen, falsche Zuordnung der Räume und zu viel Zierrat. Kaum ein Gebäude erschien ihm fehlerfrei; eine Ausnahme bildete - wie bei vielen anderen Zeitgenossen auch - die Oper Unter den Linden in Berlin. Ihrem Schöpfer Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff (1699-1753) bescheinigte er - wie auch beim Potsdamer Stadtschloß - "guten Geschmack, wie größtenteils allen Produkten dieses Baumeisters". Daneben besteht nur Carl von Gontard (1731-1791), denn "überhaupt zeigen alle Kompositionen dieses Architekten sein großes Talent an". So geht Millenets Kritik von einer klassizistischen, auf die Antike orientierten Vorstellung aus, die sich nach dem Tode Friedrichs des Großen, zehn Jahre nach Erscheinen dieser Schrift, durchsetzen sollte.
