Encuadernación de tapa blanda. Condition: Regular. Two volumes (Parts VII and VIII) of the Russian translation of Abbé Claude-François-Xavier Millot's Éléments d'histoire générale, published under the title Vseobishchaya Drevnyaya i Novaya Istoriya ("Universal Ancient and Modern History, from the beginning of the world to the present"), Moscow, Tipografiya S. Selivanovskogo, 1819. The full set comprised 12 parts (1819-1820), published by S. Selivanovsky and I. Sveshnikov. Millot (1726-1785) was a French Jesuit historian whose universal history enjoyed wide circulation across Europe. This Moscow edition represents one of the major Russian Enlightenment publishing projects of the Alexandrine era — a translation of the last French edition, issued in the year of Karamzin's first volumes of the History of the Russian State. Bound together in original grey paper wrappers, heavily worn with staining to covers (see photos). Interior condition to be verified before listing. Two volumes (Parts VII and VIII) only, of a twelve-part set.
