Published by Dan Miranda, USA, 1986
First Edition
Brochure. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Fascinating and informative three-panel double-sided black and white illustrated brochure. Explains how Mr. Miranda, a Sephardic Jew, abandoned fifteen years of graduate studies to pursue buying, selling, collecting and writing about antique picture postcards, which he was introduced to through his studies. He discovered that "Here too, the Jew was the object of calumny. At a time when stereotypical Black, Chinese, Irish, and even female images were rife, anti-Semitic images emerged and refined themselves." He decided to seek out more of these postcards to form a collection which would preserve "our negative heritage". Ultimately, he reproduced this collection in the form of 144 full color slides with accompanying text, as described in this brochure. Contains considerable additional information about Mr. Miranda's background, his collection, and its significance, plus illustrations of seven postcards in the collection. 9" x 11.75" when opened. Undated but handwritten note atop front panel suggests 1986. Two small handwritten annotations, presumably by Miranda, update the number of slides in the collection and his contact details. Sales of this slide collection were presumably lean as we find no online references to it. Please note that we are offering the brochure only.; 8vo.
