Der Herausgeber, der sorbische evangelische Pfarrer, Physikotheologe und Schriftsteller Adam Gottlob Schirach (1724 - 1773; obersorbisch: Hadam Bohuchwal Serach) trat durch weitere theologische Übersetzungen ins Sorbische, so unter anderem durch Herausgabe eines wendischen Gesangbuchs hervor und darf als einer der profiliertesten theologischen Vertreter der sorbischen Kultur und Sprache seiner Zeit gelten. Zugleich erwarb er sich einen internationalen Ruf als Naturforscher, im Besonderen als ständiger Sekretär der 1766 von ihm gegründeten physikalisch-oeconomischen Bienengesellschaft in Oberlausitz.
