(Rücken etwas berieben, Kanten bestossen und beschabt, teils nachgefärbt, Bezug mit kleinen Fehlstellen, Innenfalze gering lädiert, nur gering gebräunt bzw. braunfleckig, insgesamt recht gut erhalt…en). Von den zehn erwähnten Vignetten (lithographierte botanische Darstellungen von Tee, Tabak, Affenbrotbaum, Banyan-Baum, Zuckerrohr, Dattelpalme, Baumwolle, Agave u.a.) sind neun über den Text verteilt, die zehnte ist das Frontispiz und zeigt Bananenstauden. Die Comtesse (1763-1837) war erst in der Französischen Revolution aktiv, überlebte die Schreckenstage und lebte danach überwiegend als Schriftstellerin. Der Text hier basiert wohl auf der 1825 erschienenen "Encyclopedie de la jeunesse.". Bory de Saint-Vincent (1778-1846) war eine Art französischer Alexander von Humboldt, zusätzlich mit reichlich militärischer Erfahrung in Napoleons Truppen - er war u.a. bei Austerlitz dabei. Ausserdem reiste er viel, u.a. unternahm er eine Weltreise und landete in deren Verlauf auf Mauritius und Reunion, wo er 1801 einen Vulkanausbruch erlebte. Bory verfasste allerlei Enzyklopädisches und Geographisches, das vorliegende Bändchen wird allerdings in seiner Bibliographie auf der französischen Wikipedia-Seite nicht erwähnt, wohl weil es sich um einen belgischen, wahrscheinlich unrechtmäßigen Nachdruck aus einem seiner umfänglichen Werke handelt.
