The book is bright bright. clean and unmarked, marred only by very minor creasing to the spine. A beautiful copy of Moore's final crime novel. Hard to find in such lovely condition.

Originally published as a paperback original by Dell in the US earlier in 1956. Red boards have an insect hole to the front panel and slight bumping to the corners. The page edges are quite heavily browned. Blotchy brown spotting to the pages at the front and back of the book. The insect damage continues through the book with small holes to the inner edge of all the pages through to the rear pastedown. The pages are browned but are otherwise clean and unmarked. Jacket has edge wear and some rubbing and creasing to the corners. There is some light chipping to the corners and at the top and bottom of the spine. Browning to the rear panel. Dust-jacket, priced 10s6d. Irish writer Moore's first pulp fiction foray under this pseudonym, one of seven such titles he subsequently disowned. Adapted into a 1958 film noir of the same name, directed by Jack Cardiff. Rare. Slight toning to text block; boards very good; jacket a little rubbed and creased at edges and head of spine, overall very good. Book.
