Lawrence is noted for his modernist works reflecting on modernity, social alienation and industrialization, while championing sexuality, vitality and instinct. With four of his most famous novels being the subject of censorship trials. Volume one contains a guide of who's who in the letters and correspondence from 23rd October 1903 to 12th December 1920. Volume two contains correspondence from 20th January 1921 to 27th February 1930 with an index of recipients of letters. Edited with an introduction by Harry T. Moore, Lawrence's principle biographer. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrappers are sound with light wear to the extremities and sunning to the spine. Closed tears to the head and tail of the spine with the odd small closed tear to the panel edges. Minor loss to the heads of the spines. Internally, firmly bound.
