Karel Polácek (22 March 1892 - 21 January 1945) was a Czechoslovak writer, humorist and journalist of Jewish descent. Illustrated by Josef Hlinomaz (9 October 1914 - 8 August 1978) was a Czechoslovak film actor, journalist, and painter. He appeared in more than 150 films and television shows between 1948 and 1978. [Czechoslovakia (Czech and Slovak: Ceskoslovensko, Cesko-Slovensko) was a sovereign state in Central Europe that existed from October 1918, when it declared its independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, until its peaceful dissolution into the Czech Republic and Slovakia on 1 January 1993].
